Home Sweet Home
The background on this turned out exactly as I wanted, which was quite startling to me. That almost never happens! I used gesso to cover the background paper and drew spirals into it with the stick end of my paintbrush. Then I painted with an earthy mustard color using acrylic paints. I wanted a sunset type look AND some darker color up top so that the jester's face contrasted nicely...so I smeared purple ink onto the surface with a dampened sponge. Viola! I really like the effect.
His eyes didn't work out, so to stick with my goals (Focusing on My Weaknesses), I slapped some goggles on him and called it done. I like it better this way...tells a story and adds a little mystery.
Don't read the text too closely, it's been altered which may cause some confusion (wink, wink).
